Getting rid of plaque is the key to keeping your dogs mouth healthy. Dogs need their teeth brushed or rubbed with a finger toothbrush either once a day or every other day. While no dog is begging to have its teeth brushed, its helpful if the toothpaste tastes good to your pet. If your dog is not used to having his teeth brushed it may take a little time for it to get used to the idea. Over time your dog will get used to you brushing their teeth, just like children get used to the idea of having to brush their teeth so be patient with the process.
Today a lot of vets give dental disease a priority because of the association of the dental diseases with various chronic diseases that can occur in your dogs body. If your dog shows signs of dental disease make an appointment to see your vet. Either an intense program that uses natural products needs to be followed or antibiotics need to be given in the initial stage of teeth infection. If this does not happen then infections can occur and may spread to the other parts of the body like the sinuses or throat. Not all vets do much that is natural, so if that is the route you want to go you will have to do the reasearch to find what you need to help your pet get better.
To avoid the possible teeth decay or damage, you need to be choosy about the food you feed your dog. Any dog food will not do, especially the cheap dog food. It may be cheap on your wallet now but later you will pay with vet bills and possibly losing your beloved pet to death through disease because of poor health. If your dog does not recieve the necessary treatment early on then he may develop an infections which may spread to other parts of the body like the respiratory system and the throat.
If the dog does not have a bony material to bite on at a young age, your dog may develop dental diseases later. The teething stage of your puppy often causes the animal to go for biting in an indiscriminate manner, so the animal has to be given some biting materials to avoid the occurrence of dental diseases.
If there is an evidence of bleeding that becomes an every day occurance in your dogs mouth, then have your dog examined thoroughly for any dental abnormality. Mainly the puppies or sometimes, adult dogs also may have teeth injuries. They need to be attended immediately as a preventive step. If not, your dogl may end up with an infection.
